All foreign nationals travelling to India require a valid passport with minimum 6 months validity (from the date of arrival in India) and a valid Indian visa. Indian visa can be obtained through Online Visa Application portal under visa on arrival scheme (also called e-Tourist Visa) or Indian High Commission in overseas. The Government of India introduced Visa On Arrival scheme on January 1, 2010 in order to promote tourism. Initially the scheme was available for citizens of five countries and now the number of countries in the list has increased to One Hundred and Fifty.

Before applying for e-Tourist Indian Visa, you should have your international return flight ticket and a confirmed tour package ready in your hand. Your passport expiry date should be more than six months from the date of your arrival in India with at least two blank pages for India visa on arrival. e-Tourist Indian visa will be valid for staying 30 days in India from the date of arrival and one can apply e-Tourist Visa between 34 to 4 days before arrival in India.
